Introducing Rachel Brimble.

It’s my great pleasure to introduce you to the author of the Pennington’s Department Store series & Harlequin Superromance series, Rachel Brimble.

A Little Something About Me… by Rachel Brimble

I often consider how lucky I am to still be best friends with someone I met when I was just four years old. Lisa lived across the street from me and we became fast friends the moment our parents started letting us play outside…times were different in the late 70s!

Forty years on and we are still friends and also fortunate enough that our husbands have known each other since they were eleven. The four of us have been pretty inseparable since we started double-dating in 1993.

Our favourite thing to do, now our kids are older. is to take an annual trip to Butlins for their 80s weekends. These are the times we let lose and the music makes us feel like teenagers again – I would go as far to say that we might even lose our minds a little!

Dressing up in costume, having fun and remembering what it is like to be young is what the four of us are all about and I love our best friends with all my heart…

Rachel’s latest book will be released February 5thand is available for preorder right now! A Rebel At Pennington’s is book 2 in her Edwardian series set in Bath’s finest department store. Both books can be read stand alone – here are the blurb and buy links:

When Esther and Lawrence meet their mutual understanding of life’s challenges unites them and they are drawn to the possibility of a life of love that neither thought existed.
With the Coronation of King-Emperor George V looming, the atmosphere in Bath is building to fever pitch, as is the suffragists’ determination to secure the vote.

Will Esther’s rebellious nature lead her to ruin or can they overcome their pasts and look to build a future together?

Happy New Year’s Eve!

Happy New Year’s Eve  everyone.

I was lucky enough to receive six marketing books that I’d wished for, for Christmas this year. I’ve begun reading them and will share any insights on my regular Marketing blogs in 2019. I can’t wait to get back to working on my latest romance book, as I have written about 20,000 words  and would like to complete it in the near future.

I hope that you all have exciting plans for the New Year and that 2019 brings lots of happiness and success to you all. I can’t wait to discover some new reads and to share them here too. I’ve tried lots of different genres in 2018, but am still drawn to the ones I write in, which are romance and humour.

Wishing you all an amazing and fulfilling New Year.

The saying goes, If you love what you have, you have everything you need.

Happy 2019!

Introducing Miriam Drori.

Introducing Miriam Drori.

Hello, Lizzie and Lizzie’s readers. I’m delighted to be here. Here are a few of the things that distinguish me from other authors. I didn’t grow up wanting to be a writer; there are reasons for that. I studied Maths at university and worked as a computer programmer and later as a technical writer. I live in Israel, having emigrated from the UK. I suffer from… make that: live with… social anxiety, but nevertheless love giving presentations. I go dancing (folk dancing) three times a week. My books are all different: romance, historical fiction, non-fiction.

Blurb for Social Anxiety Revealed

Fear of other people? Most of us feel this occasionally, when giving a presentation or being grilled in a job interview. This is not social anxiety disorder.

Fear of what other people think of you? We have all felt this, too. It is why we dress as we do and generally try to behave in a way that is expected of us. This is not social anxiety disorder either.

But when those fears become so prevalent that they take over your life? When they cause you to hide away, either literally or by not revealing your real self? When you keep quiet in an attempt to avoid those raised eyebrows and the possible thoughts behind them? That is social anxiety disorder.

And it is much more common than you might think. In the mental health table, it comes third – after alcoholism and depression – and yet most people don’t even know it exists.

If you have social anxiety disorder, this book is for you.

Even if you don’t have social anxiety disorder, you might have a friend, a relative or a work colleague who does. You might see it developing in your son, your daughter, or a child you teach. This book is for you, too.

Social Anxiety Revealed is created by people who yearn to ditch all these problems and live their lives to the full.

Introducing Jess B Moore.

Today’s guest, Jess B Moore, is not only a great writer, but she’s fun, friendly and full of great ideas. Her books are a joy to read and if you haven’t picked one up yet, give one a try. In my view, you won’t be disappointed! Jess also has a beautiful Instagram page. If you like seeing lots of pretty bookish posts, pop by and check her page out.

From Jess:

Jess B Moore is a writer of love stories.  When she’s not writing, she’s busy mothering her talented and stubborn children, reading obscene numbers of books, and knitting scarves she’ll likely never finish.

Jess lives in small town North Carolina with her bluegrass obsessed family.  She takes too many pictures of her cats, thinking the Internet loves them as much as she does.  She is a firm believer of swapping stories over coffee or wine, and that there should always be dark chocolate involved.

The Guilt of a Sparrow is her debut novel combining her interests in family, music, and small towns into a thoughtful tale of growing up and falling in love.  Her second book, Fierce Grace, follows similar themes in a whole new way, and is NOW available.  The Worth of a Penny, Jess’ third novel, the sequel to The Guilt of a Sparrow, will be out Spring 2019.

You can read her new book Beauty & Melancholy in monthly installments by signing up for her newsletter

Introducing Lynn Forth.

Welcome to today’s introducing post, where I introduce your to some amazing authors and creatives I have met over the last few years. Lynn Forth is a wonderful romance writer and her books make you want to keep turning page after page. I absolutely love the photo she has sent me to show us her personality. You can’t help but smile, as she really is such a flamboyant character! I enjoyed reading Lynn’s first book, Love in La La Land, as it’s beautifully written and packed full of fun and romance and can’t wait to find out more abut her latest book.

Lynn silly pic

Over to Lynn:

Although I’m a northern girl from Accrington, I have lived in Worcestershire for many years with my husband and family. But having gone to university in Yorkshire, I find it’s my northern roots that have inspired both my books.

My first book, Love in La La Land is a romantic comedy set in the glitzy world of Hollywood, where a down-to-earth Yorkshire lass, Jane Jones, is excited to see her novel being made into a film. But in this City of Stars, will she come to earth with a bump? Or can she write her own happy ending? As she negotiates this sleazy world of glittering parties, hovering paparazzi, and powerful movie tycoons, she has to decide who can be trusted and who can’t.

My latest book Love, Lies and Café au Lait was inspired by my first trip to Nice many years ago. I was sitting in a café delighting in all the sights and sounds of the famous Nice market when I had one of those blissful, goose-pimpling moments thinking about what’s a girl from Accrington doing in a swanky place like this. And years later, Annie’s story emerged from those imaginings.

At first, in Love, Lies and Café au Lait, when Annie has a chance to go to live in  cosmopolitan Nice, it seems like a dream come true, even if it does involve dog-sitting a pampered pooch for the winter.

But, once in France, despite trying to adopt a classy persona, Annie attracts the attention of all the wrong people: from Jacques, an attractive waiter, to Reen, a perma-tanned expat from the Costa del Sol.

And just who is the charming Monsieur Xavier who is so keen to befriend her? Dare she enlist his help to solve the mystery left behind by her France-obsessed mother?

Can Annie find her way through all the lies, intrigue and deception or is she just too nice for Nice?

Powerful words.

I hope you have all had a great weekend. I read an interesting article on Saturday about finding insights from inspirational quotes. It was explaining how we can look at the words used in popular quotes and to try and work out what is so powerful about them. Why do they make an impact and what do they mean to us?

Logic meme by Lizzie Chantree

We can turn this around and ask the same question of our own writing. Do our words convey the message we want them to? Are our readers going to feel an emotional attachment to our stories from what we have written? It’s a top tip when sitting back and reconsidering everything during the editing stage. Are you making the impression you want to? If not, what can you do to really make your story work?

Happy writing!

Launch day!

Today is the launch day for my latest book, If you love me, I’m yours! This is the second book I have launched this year and it’s been a rollercoaster of excitement and a lot of hard work to get to this point in my life. I hope you will take a look at my book, enjoy finding out more about the characters and if the story intrigues you, purchase a copy of your own. Update: It’s now on the Amazon bestseller’s lists on it’s first day of publication!

I began my career working from a market stall and worked my way up to owning two retail shops and a wholesale business. Due to my youngest daughter’s ill health, which lasted for seven years, I had to make a change to my life and career, as I needed to be at home. From this dark time, blossomed a new career and I have met so many talented authors and amazing readers. I don’t know where I would be without you all, as you make me smile even day and I’m very grateful for your support and encouragement.

IYLMIY cover small

I really hope that my books make you smile and that you get as much pleasure from reading the stories, as I do from writing them. Have a great day! From Lizzie.

Book description:

‘If you love me, I’m yours…’

Maud didn’t mind being boring, not really. She had a sensible job, clothes, and love life… if you counted an overbearing ex who had thanked her, rolled over and was snoring before she even realised he’d begun! She could tolerate not fulfilling her dreams, if her parents would pay her one compliment about the only thing she was passionate about in life: her art.

Dot should have fit in with her flamboyant and slightly eccentric family of talented artists, but somehow, she was an anomaly who couldn’t paint. She tried hard to be part of their world by becoming an art agent extraordinaire, but she dreamed of finding her own voice.

Dot’s brother Nate, a smoulderingly sexy and famous artist, was adored by everyone. His creative talent left them in awe of his ability to capture such passion on canvas. Women worshipped him, and even Dot’s friend Maud flushed and bumped into things when he walked into a room, but a tragic event in his past had left him emotionally and physically scarred, and reluctant to face the world again.

Someone was leaving exquisite little paintings on park benches, with a tag saying, ‘If you love me, I’m yours’. The art was so fresh and cutting-edge, that it generated a media frenzy and a scramble to discover where the mystery artist could be hiding. The revelation of who the prodigious artist was interlinked Maud, Dot and Nate’s lives forever, but their worlds came crashing down.

Were bonds of friendship, love and loyalty strong enough to withstand fame, success and scandal?
