Book review.

I have really enjoyed making more time for reading lately and these are two of my most recent reads. Grown Ups, by Marian Keyes and Queenie by Candice Carty-Willaims. I have finished reading Grown Ups and have moved on to the opening chapters of Queenie, which has promise to be good.

These books are very different, but are full of characters, life and real issues. Grown ups has many characters, which means you have to remember everyone, but they are so vibrant and full of life that you instantly feel for them and want most of them to be happy, except for one awful uncle, who I feel we are not meant to like anyway. It’s a huge book and I was sad when it ended. I would have liked for the ending to have been longer, even though it’s a mammoth read. I treated myself to a signed hardback copy for my birthday a few months ago, but as it’s such a big book, I think the ebook version would have been more comfortable to read. I am happy to own the hardback though and it sits proudly on my bookshelf.

If you are looking for a family romp of a read, with lots of deeper issues that are entwined in family businesses, relationships, or hidden under the floorboards, then this is the book for you. It’s packed full of romance, has devastatingly beautiful locations at some points and some feisty men and women. A recommended read.
